Hi everyone,
I’m Edison. I’m an extreme minimalist and solo entrepreneur based in Singapore.
I hesitate to call myself an extreme minimalist because I’m not sure what’s the definition of extreme minimalism. Is it someone who owns less than 100 items or 50 items or 15 items? Definitely not someone who owns 200 items?
I concluded that the maximum number of items an extreme minimalist should own is probably around 150-ish. More importantly it’s the aspiration and attitude that matters.
I currently own less than 100 items. I will share more about them in future posts. This is an intro post so that I can get used to writing on Beehiiv. I’ve never written on this platform before. I have written on Substack before. So I want to give Beehiiv a shot.
I’m somewhat of an obsessive compulsive when it comes to my possessions. I really want to reduce them as much as possible. I find joy in owning less.
That said, I believe that minimalism merely lays the foundation for you to go build the life you want. To pursue your interests and true calling.
I’m still not sure what my true calling is. I’m pursuing several things currently. I think I’m a bit all over the place so let’s see.
Some of my interests besides minimalism are technology, AI, film, creator economy, finance, and macroeconomics.
I think there is too much generic minimalism content out there so I’m trying to bring a different angle and perspective. I hope my various interests will differentiate me from other minimalist content creators.
Because I think minimalism as a topic is quite limited. And there are so many more interesting things that are relevant to our lives as well. One can’t be only interested in minimalism.
I also want to share that I am married and live with my wife and parents. A situation unlike most minimalist content creators. Hopefully this will make my content unique.
I’ll end off with one of my fav quotes from German industrial designer Dieter Rams:
Less but better.
